A total of 713 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the district in the last 24-hour, climbing the number of infections to 62,913. The infection rate is 33.81 percent.

This is the highest infection in a single day in the district till inception of Corona.  Meanwhile a total of nine people died of Coronavirus in Chattogram district in the last 24 hours.

The daily new infection figure shows gradual enhancing compared to the previous recent day’s figure but the recovery rate has also been declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram told journalists.

Among the infected patients 477 are from Chattogram city and 236 from different upazilas of the district. The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.

With nine deaths on Wednesday, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 744, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.

“Among the reported fatalities, 486 were the residents of the port city and the rest 258 were from different upazilas of the district,” he said.

Among the total 62,913 coronavirus infected people, 48,772 are the residents of the port city and the rest 14,141 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 50,492 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 157 more patients on Saturday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 80.26.

A total of 6,810 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
